why is it important to drink water immediately after taking aspirin
- cause it tastes yucky if it melts in your mouth.
- and it is an acid that needs to be diluted, so that it does not mess up whatever it is in contact with.
The above in conjunction with the fact that aspirin is an irritant to mucus membranes, which is what lines your esophagus. That is also why aspirin is bad for folks with ulcers, as it causes them to bleed. Aspirin is an anti-coagulant which promotes bleeding.
Aspirin can cause stomach ulcers and bleeding if taken in large amounts. It is wise not to take it on an empty stomach i.e. always have something to eat before taking it, and the extra water afterwards will allow it to dilute without causing any damage to the stomach wall.
Helps break the pill down faster.
It washes it down and helps it dissolve for better and faster absorption.
i dunno, to swallow it beetter maybe.
